• Comes in liquid form and can be used to:
  • reduce viscosity of polyester resin
  • improve flow of polyester resin especially for spraying
  • thin polyester so that it can penetrate porous substrates like timber
• This product will alter cure times for MEKP
  • Styrene is a reactive diluent so it doesn’t evaporate like a solvent
  • Catalyse your product to the original weight of the polyester before adding the Styrene

  • 2%-8% by weight
    • with 2% being the usual thinning rate

Important Information:

• Use the Styrene with the Polyester before adding the MEKP catalyst
  • Mix throroughly
• Thin sparingly
  • It’s a delicate balance so keep in mind that over-thinning can lead to:
    • reduced water resistance
    • increased brittleness
    • incomplete curing
• Styrene is a dangerous chemical
  • Ensure product is opened and used in a place where there is excellent ventilation
  • Wear eye protection, nitrile gloves and organic vapour respirator
  • Carcinogen – can cause cancer
  • Ototoxin – can cause damage to hearing / hearing loss
