Flowcoat is a waxed polyester coating resin used as a final sealing or finishing layer over fibreglass laminates.  This spraying grade flowcoat will cure to a hard tack-free finish.

Features:

  • Good chemical and water resistance
  • Suitable for use over polyester or vinyl ester laminates

Technical Snapshot:

  • Colour: White
  • Viscosity at 25C:16000-18000cP
  • Geltime at 25C:14-16 mins
  • Density: 1.15g/cm3
  • Gelcoat vs Flowcoat: Gelcoat cures hard against a mould but stays slightly tacky on the outside. Flowcoat contains wax and cures fully hard, making it suitable as a final coating.

Quick Tips:

  • Stir before using.  Wax in this product seperates over time and needs to be mixed back in before use. Every time.
  • Apply evenly to prepared surface
    • 3 coats to get to 0.6-0.75mm (24-30 thou)
  • Additional coats can be applied while the previous coat is still tacky. If fully cured, sand the surface before recoating

A few words on safety:

  • Flowcoat contains styrene so needs to be used in a well ventilated area.
  • Minimum protective gear – respirator, gloves and overalls, eye protection and suitable footwear.  No bare feet or jandals.
