Chopped strand mat builds thickness and bonds layers together. 300gsm is a good all-round mat, offering a balance between controlled layering and build-up speed

  • Powder bound – compatible with epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester
  • 300gsm CSM is a versatile mat suited to general laminating
  • Shapes well around curves and detailed areas
  • Builds thickness faster than lighter 225gsm while still shaping into detailed areas easier than 450gsm

Quick Tips:

  • Dry cut CSM before mixing up your resin to avoid sticky gloves, wasted time and a messy lay up.
  • Wet out one layer at a time and apply next layer while wet.  For thicker laminates, build in stages (typically 2-4 layers at a time) to avoid excess heat when the resin cures.
  • Choose the right weight of CSM for each part of your build;
    • 100gsm – acts like a surface tissue
    • 225gsm – gives controlled layering
    • 300gsm – conforms well to curves and details
    • 450gsm – balances build up speed and conformability
