450gsm chopped strand mat is designed for fast build‑up and bulk. Chopped strand mat builds thickness and bonds layers together, but most of the strength in a laminate comes from woven cloth or directional fibres.

Quick Tips:

Wet out one layer at a time and apply next layer while wet. For thicker builds 3-4 layers can be wet out this way to avoid excess heat during curing.
Can tear rather than cut the mat as this helps to blend the fibres in the layers
Works well under woven cloth or structural skins
Which weight of cloth should I choose?
- 100gsm is better for surface layers
- 225gsm is better for controlled layering and building up gradually
- 300gsm is better for tight curves and smaller repairs
- 450gsm (this product) is a good general purpose mat giving speed as well as ability to conform to curves
- 600gsm is better for faster build up and is stiffer so doesn’t conform to curves as easily as the lower weights

Glass fibres can irritate skin and lungs. Wear gloves, long sleeves and mask when handling and sanding
