417 Low Density Fairing Filler

417 is a low density, blended microballoon-based filler used to make fairing putties that are easy to sand or carve. It has a good strength for its weight but is not a structural filler.

Features:

• Suitable for use above and below the waterline
• Makes a smooth lightweight filler that is very easy to sand
• Reddish colour so you can see it when you apply it and after you have sanded it
• Made for use with epoxy resin – this one won’t work well with polyester or vinyl ester due to its chemical structure

Quick Tips:

• Add the powder gradually to the epoxy
  • peanut butter for filling
  • mayonaise for filling
• Apply with a spreader
• Allow to cure
• Layers are better than one thick application

A few words on safety:

• Very fine powder.  Use a”mask when handling and sanding.
