A mould release agent is an important part of getting a clean release of your part from the mould.  Usually used with a Mould Relase Wax, the PVA forms a final film between the mould and the part you are making.  Styrene and solvent resistance – PVA is the release agent you need for your moulding project.

  • Can be used on its own as a release agent but is better used over the top of Mould Release Wax layers
  • Resistant to solvents and styrene
    • but water soluble

    • This release agent will set to quite a smooth film
  • Coverage:
    • 1L will cover 9.7m2
      • 500ml bottle will cover 4.85m2
      • 3.8L bottle will cover 37m2
      • Notes:
        • Product is applied with 2-3 layers
        • First mist coat will use less product

  • Can be use with the following resin systems:
    • Polyester resin
    • Vinyl Ester resin
    • Epoxy resin
    • Urethane resin

  • PVA stands for Poly Vinyl Alcohol
  • Application:
    • Apply mist coat to prepared mould surface.  Allow to completely dry (10-15 minutes and touch dry)
    • Apply 2 further coats.  Allow each coat to completely dry (45 minutes).
    • Film with be smooth and glossy when dry and this means it is ready for use
    • Dry film thickness should be 2-4mils (0.05mm-0.1mm)
  • Can be applied with a spray gun (90psi) or with a brush using careful light strokes.
    • Do not thin this product
  • General advice for removing parts from a mould:
    • Think about the size and shape of the part.
      • Loosen the edges of the part.
        • For larger parts, demoulding wedges will help you do this.
      • A strong blast of air can help lift the part from the mould
      • For large curved shapes tapping over the surface with a rubber mallet can help loosen the moulded part
